Perched on a hill in, Auckland’s newly opened subdivision of Long Bay and out looking stunning Gulf Harbour four black shipping containers with glass atrium create Long Bay Showroom + Café. Todd Property’s latest sales office and cafe is an innovative, relocatable building and the national winner of the Commercial/Industrial Architectural Design Award, a finalist at the Commercial Interior Architectural Design Award, as well as the overall Supreme Winner at this year’s ADNZ Resene Awards.

The industrial nature of the shipping containers has been embraced, left unclad and painted. Extensive windows frame the surrounding landscape, creating a subtle connection with the spectacular scenery of the reserve. The collision of the natural and industrial is celebrated, the contrast accentuated, making each one more striking by comparison .
Recycled containers, LED lighting, sustainable European plywood, thermally protected and fully insulated and recycled rubber flooring all contribute to making this building environmentally friendly and sustainable.
